[May 2026] Journey to EGU26

Published:

From May 3-8, 2026, I had the honor of attending the EGU 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

During this meeting, I had the opportunity to contribute in several roles:

✅One oral presentation with the title ‘Growing Influence of Indian Ocean Waters in the South Atlantic Intermediate Layer over the last 30 years’. With the support of EU Horizon Project OCEAN:ICE, we used the most direct observations and found that there might be an ongoing ‘Indianification’ in the South Atlantic intermediate layer over the past 30 years, identifying the most plausible mechanisms and the potential biogeochemical effects. We also called attention to the ongoing climate transformations in the Global South, which should be placed in an equal role with the Global North in the ocean science community.

✅ Besides, I also explored the vital bridge between science and policy and walked away with a much clearer roadmap on how we, as scientists, can amplify the impact of our papers to better inform policy-making and drive meaningful climate action.
